Temporary Immigration Shutdown Update – Aug 1, 2013

13478388-passport-being-stampedKindly be aware that the Immigration Department in Nairobi, which is the only department permitted to process permits in Kenya,  is on temporary shutdown. The newly appointed Immigration Director claims that she is restructuring staff and making improvements at Immigration. For the past 2 months, the Work Permit and Citizenship Departments have been on shutdown and 2 weeks ago, the Special Pass department, Multi-Journey Visa department and other entry permit departments were also closed for reforms.

If your visa is near expiration and you find yourself “stuck”, we have been informed that your visa can be renewed at Nyayo House if it was not previously renewed. If you have already renewed your visa, you are required to leave the country, including East Africa region, and re-enter Kenya at least after a couple of days.
